Abstract
The process of the parent Specification is modified by treating with an alkaline condensing agent a nitrodibenzanthrone in place of a nitrodibenzanthronyl. The products dye cotton in greyish-blue to black tints from a violet hydrosulphite vat. According to examples there are subjected to alcoholic caustic potash fusion mononitrodibenzanthrone and dinitrodibenzanthrone respectively; the dinitro-compound is obtained by nitrating dibenzanthrone with nitric acid in nitrobenzene.
