Abstract
277,194. Biddle, A. Nov. 10, 1926. Indiarubber compositions; latex, treating.- Plastic compositions are obtained by treating caoutchouc latex with dissolved casein and coagulating the mixture. 100 parts of casein dissolved in 20-30 pts. lime and 2-15 parts sodium fluoride are added to 500 parts latex and the creamy mass obtained is precipitated by the addition of 2-10 parts dilute sulphuric acid. The casein may be added in the form of skimmed milk, equal parts of milk and latex being used. The mixture may be employed without precipitation for use as a coating, adhesive, or waterproof composition. Acid salts may be used instead of acids as precipitants.
