311,104. Carborundum Co., Ltd., (Carborundum Co.). May 15, 1928. Indiarubber compositions; treating latex.- Rubber bonded abrasive articles are made by mixing abrasive particles with a rubber dispersion and coagulating the rubber to form a bond. The dispersion may be natural latex, thickened, concentrated or curdled, or an artificially prepared dispersion. Suitable compounding ingredients may be added. In an example, a composition comprises 70 parts of abrasive grains, such as silicon carbide or aluminium oxide, 4 parts of sulphur, 26 parts of latex, and glue to form 10 per cent by weight of the mixture. The rubber is coagulated for instance by adding acetic acid or alum, or by heat. and the composition is moulded and vulcanized.
