Abstract

276,825. Read, W. Aug. 27, 1926. Weather-screens. - A wind-screen for motorcycles &c. comprises two upright rigid side supports 5 adjustably secured in lugs 6 on clips 7 attached to the handlebar 8, a screen consisting of a transparent upper part 9 and a lower part 11 of leather &c., and a frame 17 pivoted at 19 to the upper end of the supports 5 and adapted to act as a hood as shown, or to be folded down against the supports. The frame 17 is formed in two parts pivoted together, and is provided with struts 21 and with a cover or hood 18, which is attached by means of cross rods engaging holes in the frame 17 and by means of press fastenings 26 engaging studs 27 on the supports 5. The pivots 19 are provided with serrated surfaces, so that the frame 17 may be locked in adjusted position by wing-nuts &c. The screen 9, 11 is removably secured by means of transverse reinforcing strips 12 provided with holes adapted to engage studs on the supports 5, the strips being then fastened by wing-nuts 14. The screen is provided with an apron 15, struts 28, and a trans, verse bracing-rod between the upper ends of the supports 5.
