Abstract

332,839. Stroiczek, G. Oct. 21, 1929. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Awnings and weather-screens. - A protecting cover for motor cycles and like single-track vehicles comprises a front portion forming a windcutting device, and a rear portion forming a back screen and connected to the front portion by a roof and side walls of flexible material to form a complete cabin, the carrying frames of the front and rear portions being connected respectively to the handle-bars and to the rear part of the vehicle frame in such a way as to permit relative movements in accordance with the steering movements of the front wheel, or in accordance with vertical vibrations on uneven roads. The front portion is wedge-shaped and comprises frame bars 1, metal sheets 2, extensions 3 for protecting the riders legs, and a window opening 4, the whole being covered by waterproof material provided with window panes, and being attached by clips to the handle-bar. The rear carrying frame comprises vertical bars 14, 14<1> united by upwardly-converging arms 15, 15<1>, curved struts 16, 17, a rear strut 18, and a tie 22, which carries a sleeve 23 adapted to turn on a pin carried by a bridge member 20 supported by struts 19 from the rear of the vehicle, frame. The rear carrying frame is covered by fabric attached by means of buttons &c. The front and rear carrying frames are connected on one side by two struts 25, 26, and on the other (the mounting) side by a single strut 27, the connections being by ball joints at both ends. An upper wire or rope connection 28 supports a fabric roof, and fabric side walls are also provided. In order to facilitate mounting and dismounting, the length of fabric on the mounting side of the cabin can be unhooked at the rear and folded midway of its length about the rear edge of a frame 39, which is turned outwards about its hinged front edge for this purpose, a rod on the rear edge of the fabric side being temporarily attached to a hook 37.
