Abstract
220,532. Laythorpe, F. A. Dec. 6, 1923. Awnings or hoods for motor-cycles &c., of the kind comprising a flexible covering which is mounted on a collapsable frame pivoted at the rear of the saddle and is adapted to be extended to the front of the machine, have the covering i secured to hoops f, g, h pivoted to side stays a, which in turn are pivoted to a cross-bar c upon, or secured to, the rear carrier, the covering, when extended, being secured to vertical front stays supported from the cycle frame. The stays j are resiliently mounted in the ends of a bifurcated bracket k clamped by bolts and serrated blocks n, Fig. 6, to the top tube m of the machine, a divided glass screen o with adjusting handles or arms p being carried by the stays. A strap q tensions the hood when erected, and a hinged flap r relieves wind pressure within the hood.
