Candles, imitation. - A bulb having a contour closely approximating to that of the flame of a wick candle is mounted at the tip of a candle-like body portion, the bulb at the point of connection with the body being constricted to the diameter of a candle wick. Alternatively, the candle-like impression may be obtained by enclosing a small bulb 45, Fig. 6, in a wrapper 46 shaped as shown at 30, Fig. 4, and comprising paper or like material dipped in a binder of shellac or other varnish, or comprising a shell formed of two parts 47, 48, Fig. 11, adapted to be placed around the bulb and cemented together. The division between the parts 47, 48 may be horizontal or vertical. The candle body may comprise a paper tube 14, Fig. 3, coated with paraffin, or a wooden core 27, Fig. 4, inside a tube 28 or paraffin. The wires from the bulb pass into the candle body in the form of a wick, and may extend directly to the securing means at the bottom of the candle, as shown in Fig. 3. A form wherein the bulb may be renewed without renewing the candle body is shown in Fig. 6, the wires from the bulb being connected to metal rings 38, 39 on a plug adapted to be inserted in a tube 36 mounted in the top of the candle body. The rings 38, 39 connect with rings 43, 44 mounted on the tube 36 and connected with the leads 40. A screw-threaded holder is plugged into the candle sconce and the candle body is fitted with contacts similar to those of a screw-cap bulb. The holder socket may be fitted in a plug 19, Fig. 3, of resilient rubber, or of fibre rendered resilient bv radial saw-cuts.
