Abstract

195,472. Banks, O. T. Jan. 17, 1922. Candles, imitation.-In an electric candle lamp comprising a hollow stem over which a porcelain tube is placed, an adjustable sleeve d is provided on the stem and is screwthreaded externally to receive a screw-threaded collar or annulus h which supports the porcelain tube i, the sleeve being adapted to slide on the stem to relieve the pressure of the lamp bulb c against the porcelain tube when the bulb is being detached. The hollow stem is formed of a tube a of fibre or other insulating - material screwthreaded at its upper end to receive the metal holder b for the lamp bulb. The lower part of the tube a is formed with a longitudinal groove f and transverse grooves f<1> with which an internal projection e on the sleeve d engages. The lower portion of the metal tube d carries a screw-threaded adjustable sleeve g which receives the collar h. A portion g<1> of the sleeve g is pressed into engagement with a groove d<1> on the stem. The stem may be provided with springs on its lower end for holding it securely in a candle socket, or it may fit over a lamp cap adapted to engage with a bayonet socket provided with springs. The wires to the lamp are led up through the hollow stem.
