Electric insulation.-The process of the parent Specifications, in which porcelain or porcelain and iron parts, particularly of electric insulators, are cemented together by vulcanizing a rubber mix in the joints, is modified by replacing the sulphur by selenium or selenium compounds. A suitable mix is 90 per cent of rubber, 2 per cent of litharge, 2 per cent of selenium oxide, 3-4 per cent of an accelerator as set forth in Specification 260,592, and 2-3 per cent of a filler as zinc oxide or soot.
