Balancing moving parts by weights.- A composite double-acting piston b<1>, b<2> drives shafts l through hypocycloidal gear consisting of two fixed internallytoothed wheels f and pinions e, the diameter of each pinion being half that of the wheels. The spindle of each pinion is carried by an arm on the shaft, and is driven from the piston through a gudgeon working in slots in the cylinder and a connecting rod k. Working with each pinion e is a second pinion h of the same diameter as the pinion e, and rolling in an internally-toothed wheel i. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) also describes a modification wherein the piston is made in two widely separated parts connected by a piston rod; this carries a gudgeon equivalent to the gudgeon d' on the piston b<1>, b<2>, and driving on to hypocycloidal gear placed within the cylinder. The pinions. h may carry balance weights. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
