Nutcrackers.-A nutcracker in the form of an animal is constructed so that the opening and closing of the jaws, between which the nut is placed, is effected by a lever, one end of which constitutes the moving jaw and the other represents a moving part such as the tail. The body is formed in two similar portions a recessed at f to receive the lever b, one part f<1> of which is shaped to complete the back and form the tail i when the jaws are in the closed position. The lever is formed at the front to act as the lower jaw h and is drilled to engage a pin or projection g on the body a, and the whole is secured together by a screw engaging a socket c<1> which acts as a stop for the lever b in conjunction with a bent portion b<1> of the lever. In use, the tail is raised to open the jaws, a nut is placed therein and the lever lowered by grasping the tail and the hind legs j.
