Abstract

195,446. Howden & Co., Ltd., J., and Hume, C. W. Dec. 29, 1921. Actuating-mechanism.-A stop valve is provided with a release catch which may be operated to allow the valve to close rapidly under the action of a spring. The spindle 3 is surrounded by a closing spring 2, and its screw-threaded portion works in a bridge piece 7 pivoted at 4. A strut or toggle 10 is pivoted at 9 and is provided with a socket 11 engaging a pin 12 on the bridge piece. The strut 10 is retained in position by a spring 13 and may be withdrawn by a cord 14 to allow the spring to close the valve.
