Abstract

Locking nuts. - A nut-lock comprises a single longitudinal wedge fitting the thread on at least one side of a bolt and adapted to be pressed transversely against the bolt by the longitudinal movement of a separately-appliable over-riding nut. The wedge A, Fig. 3, is formed integral with the nut D. The wedge A may be a separate member, the nut D being dispensed with. The wedge A, Fig. 2, is in the form of a ring-nut which fits into the recess C in the nut B and has a tapered projection on one side. In the form shown in Fig. 5, the wedge comprises an eccentric tapered spigot which engages a concentric tapered socket. The spigot may be concentric and the socket eccentric. The wedge A, Fig. 8, is threaded at A', the nut B<1> engaging the bolt on one side and the threads A<1> on the other side.
