Clamps, screw. - A device for connecting lengths of wire or other cable to form a continuous length comprises two separable plates A, B each having one or more pairs of inclined jaws C', C<3>, D<1>, D<3> adapted to engage different points of the overlapping cable ends so that the cable ends are forced into contact with one another between the individual jaws of each pair by the flat surface of the other plate. The jaws C<1>, C<3> on one plate preferably abut against the jaws D<1>, D<3> on the other plate to prevent movement of the plates in the direction of the length of the cables, and wedge-shaped or other projections E, G may be provided to force the gripped portions of the cables into undulatory form. The plates A, B may be of identical but asymmetrical form arranged with the dissimilar ends engaging one another.
