Abstract

265,051. West, M. A., and West, G. E. May 18, 1926. Grips, sliding- wedge type.-A device for connecting together a pair of cables, guy lines, &c. or two parts of a cable &c., comprises an element 23 with opposed grooves adapted to receive parts of the cable or cables 24, 25, and member 30, preferably wedge-shaped, which are forced into engagement with the cable parts by a wedge 34 operated by a sledge hammer &c. Set screws 35, 36 are provided for locking the wedge 34 in position, and movement of the members 30 is limited by flanges formed at the ends thereof. The grooves are preferably formed by inturned parallel flanges of the member 23 and the members 30 preferably each have one grooved side for engagement with the cables. The member 23 may be formed with stiffening flanges 32 with apertures therein to form handles for facilitating tightening the device.
