Abstract
271,454. Siemens &. Halske Akt.- Ges. May 21, 1926, [Convention date]. Hardening.--Copper alloys contain up to about 12 per cent of beryllium, with or without the addition of other metals such as nickel not exceeding 10 per cent, tin, zinc, and aluminium, and may be made by melting together copper and beryllium, the beryllium being preferably first alloyed with the other metals used. The alloys may be heated to over 600‹ C., cooled quickly, reheated to 150‹-500‹ C. for a time varying with the temperature, being less at higher temperatures than at lower. In an example, an alloy containing 94 per cent of copper, 1.8 per cent of beryllium and 4.2 per cent of tin is rapidly cooled from 800‹ C, and then heated for about 8 hours at 300‹ C.
