Abstract

Mixers shaken in the hand.-Relates to a fluidtight cover or closure for a cocktail shaker or other container and formed with a rigid or inextensible ring or annular element adapted to engage an annular flange or skirt on the body of the container, the flange being formed of sheet metal to a slightly conical or spheroidal formation and being adapted to yield slightly under radial pressure to accommodate itself to the rigid ring on the cover. According to the invention, the neck or body of the container is flanged laterally beneath and adjacent to the yielding flange to protect its edge from contact with any external body. A slightly conical cap c, Fig. 2, for a cocktail shaker is formed with a reinforced lower edge c<1> and engages over an outer flange a<1> of an annual flange member of substantially inverted V-section, the inner flange a<2> thereof being secured to the cover b of the vessel by a lateral flange which terminates beneath the outer flange a<1>, which may be reinforced by a split ring. A similar joint may be used to secure the cover b, Fig. 1, to the body portion a, the lateral flange being arranged to align the outer flange with the body of the container.
