Abstract

268,387. I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.- Ges. March 27, 1926, [Convention date]. Addition to 258,551. Lubricant for fibres. - The process of the parent Specification, comprising the preparation of emulsions by the use as emulsifying agents of mixtures of organic sulphonic acids or their salts with gelatinous substances or water-soluble gums. is modified by the replacement of the last referred to ingredients by alkylated cellulose. According to an example, 80 parts of olein are added, with continuous stirring, to a solution of 2.5 parts of dimethyl cellulose and 2.5 parts of sodium isopropyl naphthalene sulphonate in 300 parts of water. The resulting emulsion is utilizable as a lubricant in spinning fibres. The sulphonate employed may be replaced by sodium butylnaphthalene sulphonate, sodium benzylnapthalene su]- phonate, butyl naphthalene sulphonic acid or other aromatic or hydroaromatic sulphonic acids or sulphonates, containing alkyl, aryl, aralkyl, or cycloalkyl radicles.
