Abstract
266,759. International General Electric Co., Inc., (Assignees of Allgemeine Elektricitõts-Ges.). March 1, 1926, [Convention date]. Testing balance of rotary apparatus. - Relates to apparatus of the type in which the shafts of the part to be balanced and of the balancing device are separated but run parallel or in alignment, and consists in driving the balancing device by an alternating current motor which is fed by and synchronously coupled with an alternating current generator driven from the shaft of the part to be balanced. A frame a carries a knife edge b upon which is arranged by means of a blade c and support d the bearing e, which is supported in the lateral direction by two springs f, g, the tension of which can be adjusted by milled heads h, i. The shaft k of the part l to be balanced is supported in the bearing e. The balancing device m is mounted on a shaft n above and parallel to the shaft k. The shaft k is rotated in any known manner and drives an alternating current generator synchronously coupled to an alternating current motor arranged on the shaft n. Alternatively, both parts may be driven from a common alternating current system by synchronous motors.
