Abstract

266,607. Colman, J. July 28, 1926. Double salts of calcium lactate with calcium halides are formed by introducing calcium lactate gradually into aqueous hydrochloric acid, hydrobromic acid, or hydriodic acid heated on a water bath, cooling the resulting solution, and allowing it to stand until the whole solidifies. The double salts, which contain respectively two molecules of calcium lactate and one of calcium hydrogen lactate to one of calcium chloride, six molecules of calcium lactate and one of calcium hydrogen lactate to one of calcium bromide, and ten molecules of calcium lactate and one of calcium hydrogen lactate to one of calcium iodide, are useful in therapeutics.
