Abstract

289,105. Smith, S. C. Oct. 20, 1926. Lead salts.-The lead salts of the acids of arsenic, antimony, chromium, tungsten, molybdenum and uranium are obtained by reacting an aqueous solution of a salt of the respective acid. or of the acid itself, with " active " lead chloride obtained by precipitating with water a solution of lead chloride in an alkali chloride or in hydrochloric acid. Preferably, the " active " lead chloride is prepared by saturating a boiling brine with sodium chloride and lead chloride, adding the solution to an equal volume of cold water. and removing and washing the precipitated lead chloride, which, for the production of the lead salt, is suspended in a hot or boiling solution of the respective salt or acid. Examples are given of the preparation of lead chromate, arsenate and t@ngstate. Specifications 237,308, 239,558, and 239,559 are referred to.
