Abstract

266,520. Wright, F. W., and Mann & Co., Ltd., G. Feb. 1, 1926. Printing-surfaces; blankets.-A tensioning-device for a flexible printing-plate, or an offset or impression blanket, comprises a bar to which the plate &c. is attached, provided with a pinion operated by a rack, the position of which is controlled by a fine adjustment. The plate &c. 2 is secured to a rotatable bar 4 to which is keyed a pinion 6 engaging a rack 7 mounted in a bracket 8 and operable by a fine pitched screw 11. To allow the rack to be disengaged from the pinion to enable quick adjustment of the bar 4 to be effected by a spanner applied to its squared end, the bracket 8 is mounted on a pivot 9. In one construction, Fig. 1, the bracket is moved in one direction by a spring 14 and in the other direction by a handle 19, a detent being provided to hold the bracket in the disengaged position of the rack. In another construction, Fig. 3, an eccentric 21 engaging between a pair of horns 20 on the bracket is provided to move the bracket in both directions.
