Pencil holders.-In a pencil holder of the type in which the lead is carried in a sleeve 9 slidable in the barrel 3, and its end is supported by a rod or wire 2 co-operating at its other end with a spring, elastic member, or the like 5 resting against the end of the barrel, a freely movable piston 4, guided in the barrel, is interposed between the spring and the free end of the wire. The rod 2 is held in a central position in the barrel by inserting its end in a hole in the piston 4, the face of which is formed conical to act as a guide for the insertion of the rod and as a stop to prevent jamming of the sleeve 9. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3 (a) states that the invention is also applicable to screw-propelling pencil holders. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
