Abstract

265,891. Dodridge, L. Oct. 23, 1926. Folding vehicles. - The side frames of folding perambulators, push-chairs, and the like, consist of four pivoted links of which the combined lengths of two adjacent links is less than ,the combined lengths of the other pair and the combined lengths of an opposite pair is substantially equal to the combined lengths of the other opposite pair, the arrangement being such that when each side frame is pollapsed the opposite comers approach one another and the overall length of the collapsed structure is no longer than the longest link of the ,.structure. As shown, the side frames comprise four pivoted links a, a<1>, b, b<1>, the link a' being .extended upwards to accommodate a pivoted handle k and downwards to accommodate a link m<2> to carry the wheel. The link m<2> is hooked on to a pin m<1> and is connected to the axle m a locking link e for the frame being also hooked on to the pin m<1>. The axle m is supported by a spring o and cantilever springs p. The handle k is locked in operative position by a sliding latch l.
