Abstract

Springs, arrangement of; lateral canting, preventing; equalizing load on wheels and springs. -The axles are maintained approximately parallel to the frame and two axles are interconnected by flexible tension members and a common spring in addition to the ordinary suspension springs. The ends of the axle C, Figs. 2 and 3, are each connected by a tension member D, D<1> passing over pulleys d to a spring E. The other axle is similarly connected to the spring E<1>. In a similar arrangement shown in Fig. 4, the springs E<2>, E<3>, one for each axle, are connected to one another by flexible members e and a spring E<4>. The two springs E, E<1> of the construction of Figs. 2 and 3, may be replaced by a single spring which is not connected to the frame other than by additional springs joining it to the side members. Instead of the axle connection, each flexible member D may be connected to a pivoted lever K, Fig. 6, attached to one end of the main spring B. In a modification, a quarter elliptic spring is secured to a pivoted lever connected to the flexible member.
