Abstract

330,571. Cook, J. F. March 11, 1929. Equalizing load on wheels and springs. -The axles 5, 6, of a three-axle vehicle are connected by a frame 9 pivoted at 10 to a frame 12 which is secured at 13 to the main frame 8 and at the rear to the ends of a transverse spring member 15. The axle 7 is carried by a frame 16 pivoted to the main frame at 17 and secured to the member 15. The side members of the frame 16 are connected by shackles 17 with the main irame 8 through brackets 18, Fig. III, and ball and socket joints 31. Limited endwise play is allowed to the axle 7 by stops; this play may be prevented during backing by projections 35 on a shaft 34, which are inserted between the stops on actuating a lever 36. The sub-frames are preferably made of leaf-springs.
