Abstract

Shaft couplings. - Relative adjustment of two shafts is automatically obtained by a centrifugal device consisting of masses 7, 8 mounted on pivots 9, 10 carried by a plate 6 secured to the driving shaft. At each end of the masses rest, or are pressed by springs 19 against rollers 4 projecting from a flange 3 on the magneto shaft. The ends of the masses 7, 8 are shaped as shown in Fig. 2 so that as the speed increases the driven shaft is advanced more rapidly than the speed of rotation. The rollers 4 may be eccentric with milled surfaces.
