[Class 80 (ii)] [Also in Group XXVIII] In means for varying automatically the timing of fuel-injection pumps comprising driven and driving shafts a, b provided with pairs i, j of relatively inclined surfaces urged by springs m into contact with centrifugal masses n which effect relative adjustment of the shafts in accordance with the speed, each mass consists of two or more independent rotatable rollers which engage different surfaces. The arrangement ensuring pure rolling contact and thereby increasing the sensitivity. As shown, each mass consists of a roller r having trunnions carrying slightly smaller rollers t. The rollers t engage the surface j, and the roller r engages the surface i and enters a clearance-groove u in the surface j. The rollers may have conical or spherical peripheries, and the rollers t may be mounted on ball-bearings. Rollers of the same size may be employed, in which case the surface i is formed with clearance recesses for the rollers t.
