Abstract
294,386. M-L Magneto Syndicate Ltd., and Watson, E. A. Aug. 12, 1927. Timing.-Adjustment is effected by the centrifugal action of masses g. A plate c on the driving shaft a carries pivots f for the masses g, and lugs d to which are attached blade springs e bearing against cam-surfaces h on the underside of the masses g. The pivots f, lug d and point of contact between the cam h and spring e are preferably in a straight line, permitting rolling contact between the cam and the spring. As the speed increases the point of contact moves towards the fixed end d where the resistance of the spring is greater, thus reducing the rate of adjustment at higher speeds. The drive is transmitted by pins j on the masses g and the slotted ends of a cross-bar on the make- and-break caul-shaft b<1>.
