Folding paper.-In paper-folding machines of the buckling-folder type, a deflector member 12 is provided, which, after a sheet has left the rollers 4, 11 of one folder 9, Fig. 12, can be adjusted so as to direct the sheet either to the left or to the right to folders 9<a>, 9<b> respectively according to the kind of additional fold desired, or may direct the sheet vertically downwards between delivery rollers 24, 35. The deflector member 12 comprises two spaced plates 13, Fig. 11, connected at their ends, which are supported in the machine framing 1 by spindles 15. A handle 16 is secured to one of the spindles 15, and is provided with a spring-pressed plunger 17 with a tapered head 18 which snaps into one of three apertures. 19 in the framing corresponding to the three positions of the member 12. When the member 12 is in either of its inclined positions, the outer faces of the plates 13 serve to guide the sheet, but in its vertical position the sheet passes between the plates to the roller 24, 35. The sheet, whether provided with an additional fold or not, passes to converging guides 30 and a conveyer 31 delivering the sheet to a stacker device. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 271,081.
