Abstract
263,860. Spiess, G. Jan. 4, 1926, [Convention date]. Folding paper. - In paper - folding machines employing folders comprising a buckling-plate and folding-rollers, at least one of each pair of rollers can be positively adjusted relatively to the other according to the thickness of the folded or unfolded sheet that has to pass therebetween, so that defects due to the springing together of the rollers after the passage of a sheet are prevented. Each adjustable roller such as 3 is carried by a lever 15 acted upon by a spring 11 tending to press the roller 3 against its coacting roller 4, this movement being limited by a set-screw 12 engaging the extremity of the lever and provided with a lock-nut 14. In the arrangement shown in the Figure, designed to give a sheet four parallel folds, and in which all the rollers except the first 3 and last 21 both feed and fold the sheets, all the rollers except the third 5 of the series are adjustably mounted. In a single folding-device comprising parts 3 - - 6, the middle roller 4 is fixed and the other two are adjustably mounted. The rollers of a crossfolding machine may also be adjustably mounted as described above. According to the Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a), means may be provided for simultaneously adjusting all the rollers preceding the fixed roller and all the rollers succeeding it. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
