264,391. Ringham, A. July 5, 1926. Motor-vehicle and like head-lamps; mounting electric lamps in lanterns.-In a head-lamp of the type in which an electric lamp bulb 3 is adapted to be retracted axially by means of a Bowden wire 15 &c. in opposition to a spring 7 in order to prevent glare, the bulb 3 is withdrawn completely into a chamber 12 behind the main reflector 2 so that light is reflected by a rear reflector 17 downwardly and outwardly through a window 6 in the chamber, the main reflector acting as a baffle. An adjustable nut 13 limits the forward movement of the bulb, and the collar against which the spring bears is darkened or suitably shaped to prevent forward projection of light.
