Abstract

227,702. Browne, C. F., Cotton, T. W., and Farrow, E. F. May 19, 1924. Mounting electric lamps in lanterns.- In a vehicle lamp having a parabolic reflector and means operated from the driver's sea t for moving the light source out of focus with the reflector to reduce glare, the lamp - socket 12 is mounted in a holder 10 pivoted at 11 so that, when operated, the light source moves upwardly from the normal position in an arcuate path. The operating means comprise a Bowden cable 21 secured bv a button 22 in the slotted end of an arm 18 projecting from the holder 10, a spring 25 being provided between the rear of the lamp casing and the arm 18 for returning the lamp to the normal position. For initially setting the light source at the focus of the reflector, an adjusting screw 15 is provided, which in conjunction with a spring 16, enables the lampsocket 12 to be adjusted in the holder 10.
