264,232. Tangent Tool Engineering Co., Ltd., Smith, E. M., and Death, H. N. Oct. 14, 1925. Clutches, friction. - In a motor mowing- machine of the lawn-mower type a friction ring G is provided in a driven sprocket wheel E on the shaft D of the main roller and another friction ring J on a clutch element H splined on the shaft D, the two rings being adapted to engage with faces L<1>, K<1> on the sections L, K of the roller. A plate N loaded by a spring O bears against the element H through a ball race P, the other end of the spring bearing against a nut Q on the shaft D through a ball race R. Rods S connect the plate N with a cross-head T engaged by a hand-lever U extending to the handle of the machine. The face L<1> is at the outer end of the roller section L and the face K<1> disposed within the section K so that the spring &c. may be housed within the roller, which is capable of some axial movement on the shaft D.
