Abstract

[Class 80 (ii)] [Also in Group XXVI] In a pump of the type comprising a pair of inter - engaging gear wheels, e.g. rotably mounted in a casing a, the wheel e is coupled to its driving shaft f by a friction clutch which allows slip if the pump is over-loaded. The clutch may comprise a hollow member o attached to the shaft by a pin q and having a conical end n in frictional contact with a conical bore in e, and carrying a pin t connected by a spring s to q. In another form, the wheel e is in two parts, the lower part being engaged by the conical part of the clutch, while the upper one is connected to the clutch by a cross-pin connected by a spring to a pin mounted on the shaft.
