Loud-speakers; magnetic instruments; diaphragms. -In a loud-speaker in which a rigid diaphragm is actuated by a moving coil, the moving element is supported by light connecting members preferably in the form of thin corrugated metal strips. Fig. 7 shows a magnetic casing A provided with an exciting winding B and a moving element CD, the core G being pierced to form the inlet to the horn K. The moving element comprises a light non-conducting cylinder C and a dished rigid diaphragm D preferably of magnesium or aluminium. The moving element is mounted by elastic connecting members H, H1, H2, Fig. 3, which may also form the connections to the coil carried by the cylinder C. The connecting members may alternatively comprise bands R. Fig. 5, of light slightly extensible fabric such as silk provided at one or both ends of the moving element CD. The cap E closing the casing may form a chamber of such dimensions as to constitute a damping chamber.
