367,119. Loud-speakers. BETHENOD, J., 79, Boulevard Haussmann, Paris. Jan. 13, 1931, No. 1203. Convention date, Feb. 5, 1930. [Class 40 (iv).] A loud-speaker has a diaphragm 2, driven e.g. by a moving coil 1, forming one wall of a space closed by a second diaphragm 10 which is flexibly mounted and has such a mass that it vibrates out of phase with the driven diaphragm 1. There may be more than one driven diaphragm 2, each associated with a separate subsidiary diaphragm 10. The body of the loud-speaker may be covered with a non-resonant material 11 and the enclosed space may be filled with an elastic fluid. The diaphragms may be truncated cones or formed of layers of paper glued together, the thickness of the diaphragm increasing from the periphery to the centre. The mass of the diaphragm 10 may be increased by securing heavy washers at its centre.
