Abstract
262,255. French, E. Nov. 26, 1925. Diaphragms; loud-speakers.-Relates to diaphragms for telephone receivers and more particularly to large reinforced diaphragms for loudspeakers, such as are described in Specification 230,552. According to the invention, ribs attached to the back of the diaphragm are connected to the reed of the actuating magnet, and, in addition, a ' screen " is attached to the periphery of the diaphragm so as to extend from one or both faces thereof. In the construction shown, a circular diaphragm a, of paper &c., has a cylindrical attachment or screen b, peripheral portions l of the diaphragm being bent over and secured to the part b. Triangular-ribs fare attached at their edges g to the diaphragm, and at their edges h to a central light rod i connected to the reed of the magnet j. Light cane, coiled as shown in broken lines e, is provided on the front surface of the diaphragm, for reinforcing, and strengthening ribs m may be attached to the rear face. Similar ribs may also be applied to the ribs f. The whole diaphragm may be supported only by the central rod; the screen may, however, be restrained by connecting it at several points c to an external casing d. Instead of forming the screen as a separate attachment, it may be made by bending the edge of the diaphragm cylindrically.
