Abstract
262,031. Brookes, N. E., (Bendix Brake Co.). Sept. 22, 1926. Blocks and shoes acting on drums.-In brakemechanism in which two or more brake blocks are expanded into contact with a drum, one of the blocks is anchored at the end which is adjacent the other block and its free end is operated by a connection to the other block. In the construction shown, the block 16 is anchored at the point 20 and is pivoted at 18 to the servo block 14 by means of which it is operated for forward running. During reverse running, the free overlapping end of the servo block 22, is connected by a link 54 to toggle links 50, 52 anchored at 56 so that the block 22 thus applies the block 24. An adjustable stop 64 limits ther off position of the block 22 and the toggle linkwork. The ends of the servo blocks 14, 22 adjacent the operating cams 34 are guided by means. of pins 42 engaging slots 44 and the blocks are withdrawn by springs 36 38. 66. To facilitate, jointing and overlapping the blocks 14, 22 may be of T-section and the block 24 of channel section.
