Abstract

261,725. Masson, P. Nov. 17, 1925, [Convention date]. Diaphragm and lift valves; actuating-mechanism.-A petrol tap has an elastic diaphragm valve member 10, Fig. 1, normally held to close the outlet aperture 12 by a spring-pressed piston 14, which is actuated directly or from a distance by rods or by a flexible cable. A filter 4 is fitted in an annular chamber 3 surrounding the outlet 12, the chamber 3 having a draining channel 5. The latter is normally closed by a washer 6 held by a screwed cap 7, but if the cap is partially unscrewed drainage takes place through a channel 8 in the cap 7. The draining device may form a petrol outlet. In a modification, the piston 14, Figs. 2 and 3, has a coarse thread, and is actuated by rotation through a spring-pressed lever 16 by a cable.
