Regulating.-In engines having two or more fuel valves to each cylinder, means are provided whereby only one valve is in action at low loads, one or more additional valves being brought into action as the load increases. Fig. 2 shows one of the fuel valves 4 actuated by a cam 24 and a lever 7, which is mounted on an eccentric secured to the shaft 5, so that the valve may be brought into action by angular adjustment of the shaft 5 by means of linkage 11, 12 and a cam 13 on a shaft 9 fitted with a handle 20. A second fuel valve is similarlv actuated bv another camactuated lever mounted on an eccentric formed on a sleeve loose on the shaft 5, the sleeve being adjusted by similar connections to a second cam on the shaft 9.
