Abstract
261,252. Smith, W. Prince-, and Waterhouse, D. April 6, 1926. Pulleys.-An overhung shaft 13, carrying fast and' loose pulleys 35, 20, is supported at two points by an adjustable bearing- bracket 3 adapted also to support, the loose pulley 20 directly. The part 3 is laterally adjustable on a vertically-adjustable bracket 2, and is formed at one end with a housing 8 for a selfaligning or other antifriction bearing 10, and at the other end with a split housing 9 supporting a fixed sleeve 15, which has clearance from the shaft 13 and carries, preferably on a bush 16, the loose-pulley hub 17 The outer end 22 of the sleeve 15 is enlarged to accommodate a ball bearing 24, the inner race 25 of which is held by the fast-pulley hub 32 against a shoulder 27 of the shaft, a washer 26 preferably being interposed, while the outer race 23 is secured by a flanged end cover 28. Lubricating-passages 21, 38 are provided. The housing 9 may project into the hub 17 to afford further support. The pulley rims are detachably secured to webs 18, 33 on the hubs 17, 32, in order that they may be interchanged with rims of other sizes without dismounting the hubs.
