688,054. Bearing casings. LANVER. MEYER, J. June 19, 1950 [Jan. 31, 1949], No. 15284/50. Class 12 (i). Supporting means for a roller or other bearing is made from sheet-metal parts, the outer race 1 being a press fit in a tube 3 and being held in position by caps 4 which are also press fits in the tube, itself surrounded by sheetmetal parts 5 widened downwardly at 7 and having supporting surfaces 8. The parts 5 are shrunk or spot-welded on to the tube 3 and are connected together by clamps 9. As shown, the bearing may be lubricated through the chamber 17 or alternatively a collar may be drawn out of the tube 3, felt inserts being disposed between discs 11 and the caps 4 to prevent lubricant from leaking out after bearing. A support member 12 may be inserted between the parts 5, which are held apart by threaded bolts 14.
