In a plain bearing according to the parent Specification, a spiral cross-sectional profile of the bore is determined according to a specified formula in order to increase the degree of uniformity of oil pressure at all points of the circumference of the bearing lying in a plane at right angles to the axis of the bearing. The machining of the profile may conveniently be carried out by the means described in Specification 726,751, [Group XXII].
