Abstract

260,602. Standard Development Co., (Assignees of Becker, A. E.). Oct. 29, 1925, [Convention date]. Lubricants for machinery, particularly the cylinders, brake bands, and transmission gearing of internal combustion engines, consist of a lubricating oil and less than 0.5 per cent of an alkali soap. In an example 0.15-0.25 per cent of sodium oleate is dissolved in a highly purified cylinder oil of a viscosity of 285-290 secs. Saybolt at 100‹ F. The use of these lubricants is said to minimize knocking, and to reduce carbon deposition or remove deposits already formed.
