Lubricants for fibres, e.g. of artificial silk, consist of a hydrocarbon lubricating oil containing less than 0.5 per cent of a water-soluble soap. For example 0.15-0.20 per cent of sodium stearate or oleate or of a mixture is dissolved in a water white petroleum lubricating oil having a viscosity at 100‹ F. of 50-200 seconds Saybolt. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) is not limited to the proportions of soap.
