Abstract
523,520. Emulsions. STANDARD OIL DEVELOPMENT CO. March 16, 1939, No. 8422. Convention date, May 20, 1938. [Classes 1 (i) and 91] An emulsifying composition for softening and oiling textile fibres comprises a mineral oil, a water-soluble salt of an isobutyl-phenol sulphonic acid and oil-soluble salts of the sulphonic acid compounds obtained by the treatment of petroleum oils with strong sulphonic acid. The preferred water-soluble salts are sodium tri- and tetraisobutyl-phenol sulphonates. Water and monohydric or polyhydric alcohols may also be included in the product. An example of a composition consists of 84 parts of mineral lubricating oil, 3 parts of alkali tri- or tetra-isobutyl-phenol sulphonate, 1 part of water, 1 part of diethylene glycol and 11 parts of alkali salts of oil-soluble petroleum sulphonic acids.
