Electric and magnetic.-In order to decrease the temperature error of an electricity meter, at least one member on which the braking action is exerted consists of aluminium alloyed with copper, silicon, and iron. The invention is shown applied to an induction motor meter in which the magnetic system 1 drives an aluminium or copper disc 2. On the shaft 3 is also mounted a disc, 4 acted on by the brake magnet 5. This disc consists of an aluminium alloy containing for example 96.25 per cent of aluminium, 2.82, per cent of copper. 0.70 per cent of silicon, and 0.23 per cent of iron. It is stated that the resistance of such a disc increases by 0.00284 per cent per degree rise in temperature as compared with 0.0039 per cent for an aluminium disc. In polyphase meters with a number of driving systems there mav be or more such brake discs or drums acted on by one or more brake magnets. In direct-current meters with drum armatures, the usual brake disc is replaced by one formed of the above-described alloy.
