Abstract

304,684. Landis et Gyr Soc. Anon. Jan. 24, 1928, [Convention date]. Electric and magnetic.-Motor meters wherein the tractive force of the braking disc on the brake magnet is employed for indicating watts &c., are provided with a spring controlled brake magnet having both poles adjacent the same face of the disc, together with an armature fixed below the disc, so that one pole of the magnet moves towards the centre of the disc and the other towards its edge. As shown, the brake magnet 14 of a continuous current commutator watthour meter is supplemented by a further braking magnet 16, the flux of which is completed through a lower plate 17. The magnet 16 is mounted on a spindle 15 provided with a pointer 18 moving over a scale 20. Asthe speed of the disc 6 increases, the magnet and pointer 16, 18 are turned against a spring 22, the turning moment being proportional to. the watts or other quantity measured or indicated.
