Electric speedometers are compensated for variations in temperature by providing magnetic members, the permeability of which decreases with increases of temperature, on the pole-pieces of the driving or braking magnets, and locating them in such positions that they vary the flux distribution across the gaps without making any part of the flux inactive in its driving or braking function. As shown, Fig. 5, plates B, B<1> are located on the pole faces of the current magnet E, or the plates can be placed on the voltage magnet or upon the face of a flux closing member located below the driving disc. The plates may be placed laterally or vertically upon the poles of the braking magnet, or, as shown in Fig. 3, one plate B<1> only can be employed.
